Wicked Craft Week: Halloween Candy Corn Picture Holder

Yay! It’s October! I admit the end of the summer has its drawbacks but fortunately the arrival of fall quickly erases any flip-flop withdrawal you’ve been suffering from. Autumn colors, hayrides, the return of the Pumpkin Spice Latte; there is so much to love about this season! And let’s not forget about Halloween where we get to unleash our inner eight year olds and for some odd reason subject ourselves to the very things we’ve tried to avoid our whole lives. Think chainsaw wielding maniacs. The cherry on top for me is fall decorating! So this week on the blog is “Wicked Craft Week”.  I’ve got tons of Halloween goodies to share with you all, like this frightfully easy and inexpensive candy corn picture holder created out of items from the Dollar Store. So let’s get started!
Cut a piece of yellow ribbon and wrap and adhere the ribbon to the bottom half of your Styrofoam cone with your glue gun {ribbon length will vary depending on the size of your cone. I suggest eyeing it before cutting}.  Repeat the same steps with your orange ribbon; adhering and covering the middle portion of your cone. Lastly, cover the top part of the cone with your white ribbon.  Snip a piece of twine and tie a bow around the middle of the cone. Have I ever told you how much I love twine? It’s da bomb.
Now it’s time to make your holder for the picture.  Take your scissors {you may need wire cutters depending on how thick your wire is} and cut a piece of floral wire approximately 5 inches in length. Then starting at one end of the wire start twisting it into a small spiral {see picture below} & gradually make your spirals a little larger each time you twist.  Continue until you have about 3 to 4 spirals.
For the finale, take the straight end of your wire and stick it in the middle of the top of the Styrofoam cone.  Add a Halloween pic and your done!
This picture is the only Halloween one I could find in the house.  My childhood ones are with my folks but this photograph definitely brought back a lot of great college memories! It’s fun to look at everyone and think of where they are now {that’s me in the front-middle; I was an angel of some sorts , which pretty much represents what I am every morning when that alarm goes off. Wink, wink}.

What is one of your most memorable Halloween pictures of?

I knew I should have picked up that random styrofoam cone I saw at Goodwill last week. Then I could copy this great idea.
