My "Rescued" Bubble Bracelet + 7 Creative Repurposed Jewelry Ideas

A few weeks ago I received in the mail the bubble necklace I had ordered from one of those "deal a day" sites. Upon opening the package I realized one of two things about the "person" who processed my order.
1. They were either a monkey.
2. They were extremally intoxicated.
Or perhaps, it was an extremally intoxicated monkey.
The chain holding my necklace together was broken, there were missing beads, there were baubles that were placed upside down, & the best part was there were an uneven amount of stones on one side of the necklace versus the other.
I mean don't get me wrong..........
I'm no math genius myself BUT even I could have figured this equation out.
Fortunately, this "deal a day" site had terrific customer service and got a new necklace{ I assume put together by a sober human this time} out to me asap.
Of course, you know the little DIYourselfer inside of me couldn't bare the idea of the drunk primate-made jewelry going away to bubble necklace heaven. No way!
So I decided to repurpose the bad boy into a bracelet.
And then we all lived happily ever after.

PS. Is it just me or does your hand suddenly become all E.T.-like when you go to photograph it?
BUT while were at it we may as well check out a few of my other favorite "rescued" and repurposed jewelry ideas that I've seen around bloggy land.
Have a blingy-bling night!

Just have to say that I bought what I'm guessing was the same necklace (in the same color even) on one of "those" sites and found that you get what you pay for! Mine was awful, too, but the sad part is that I didn't even like it enough to worry about returning it! I'm so happy to read your post, because now I know how to make a useable piece of jewelry out of it! Thank you!!!

What is that about photographing your own hands? Mine will look perfectly normal until I take a picture!!

I LOVE the idea of repurposed jewelry. I have lots of vintage brooches but only wear them as brooches. I wish I knew what to do with them.

So true - taking a picture of your own hand is weird - it always looks strange! Yours looks fine tho! Love this idea - and I'm going to start putting brooches on all my gifts now :)

Okay first, I love your blog! Second I am your newest follower (thank you to Katie @forlaurenandlauren). Third, hysterical comment about a drunk monkey :D I love your photos, my girlfriend is getting married and actually made a broach bouquet. I had never heard of it before, but it's gorge and she is planning to pass it down to her sisters when they get married and then one day frame it for their mom. I am in love with that idea!

Photographing hands is always tough! But I really like the idea of turning the unusable necklace into a bracelet. I tend to rebuild bracelets to fit my little wrists and take the leftover pieces and make new ones!

I'd love to hear from you!
