Craft Room Office Progress and the Return of Minty Green

Hey strangers! I thought I'd drop in and share a little of what's been holding my time hostage lately; my craft room/office makeover. Remember a few weeks ago I vowed to elevate this space from dump zone to happy zone? Well, I'm delighted to say I've made some progress.

Progress on the farmhouse styled office and craft room makeover. Fresh white walls and minty home decor....yes, please!

Unfortunately, this progress was at the cost of me almost losing an arm.
Let it be noted that when your significant other encourages you to prime before painting,
just do it! Oh, and use good quality paint.

Before I get to that, let's first take a quick glance at the unflattering before pics of this room. Actually, I lie these aren't the REAL before pictures, these were taken only AFTER I cleared out all the random junk and scattered craft supplies that had taken up real estate in here. So in your heads just imagine a hoarder use to live here and you'll get the
FULL picture of what I was dealing with.

Pretty boring, blah, and beige, right?

The first step of "Operation Craft Room" was to paint the walls a new fresh, white color. I'm not sure what it is but ever since I became a mama of a toddler I've been craving white. Sounds pretty counterintuitive, right?!

I went with "Pearly White" from Sherwin Williams
Love, love, love the color. Hate, hate, hate that my hubby tried to save a few bucks by having our local hardware store match it in a different (lower quality) paint brand because it took me almost a week to paint this room! The coverage was horrible. I kept having to go over the walls again and again. After about the 4th day, I wanted to just crawl into the corner and cry. Lesson learned... prime first when using white color and for the sake of your sanity just pay the few extra bucks for higher quality paint or use a brand you've been happy with in the past. Cough, cough..are you listening Mr. Delightfully Noted?

Here's a little peek of the walls.

Awww.....so much better! Oh, and that hutch. For those of you who have been around for a long time you may recall many moons ago I converted an old tv unit into a craft cabinet. You can read all about here. It served me well but I was over the black paint.

So in between painting the walls, I was also working on giving this gal a makeover too with a coat of Sherwin Williams Coastal Plains (mixed with bb frosch chalk paint powder).
It appears a little minty in pics but Coastal Plains is actually the perfect country greenish color. The glass knobs are from Hobby Lobby, and were a great addition to this piece.

The day after I finished painting the hutch I happen to come across this article from Country Living in which they feature the color they claim we are going to see everywhere this year and all be darn can you believe what color it is?! Me, ahead of the trend?? Donald Trump is running for prez and for once I'm on pointe. What is this world coming to?!

So that's where the room stands as of today! The next phase of the makeover involves lots and lots of purging and organizing. I admit I've been stalling on this. It's overwhelming and I've been easily distracted which is why I'm so excited that you've agreed to come over and help!

Psst...come hang out with me over on Instagram, where I always share DIY home projects, fun finds, and blue....apparently I like to share LOTS and LOTS of blue things. I hope to see you there!

I totally agree about color-matching the Sherwin Williams colors at the "other" stores, major thumbs down :( Your new space is coming together and I really like the new color on your cabinet! Would you share it with us at our weekly furniture-themed link party, Friday's Furniture Fix? I hope to see you there!

I'd love to hear from you!
