It's been four weeks since the One Room Challenge, and I'm happy to report that my craft room/office has remained disaster-free for the past month. This could be thanks to one of two things; the fact that I haven't really used the room since the makeover (hey, it's been a busy start to summer!) or the fact that I now have all kinds of lovely storage in this space, like my
DIY Antique Wood Filing Cabinet.
A couple of months ago, some local antique stores threw a "Vintage Shop Hop" and I came across this piece that reminded me a lot of these set of drawers that Liz made over for her office last year. At the time, I was just getting into "Operation Makeover" planning mode and I knew the dresser would provide a lot of storage space for some of my craft and office supplies.
Isn't it almost a dead ringer for the color that Liz painted hers?! Although I was a fan of the whitewashed dark grey, I wasn't feeling it for this space, so I painted it white. Benjamin Moore Dove White to be exact. I never thought I would have such strong feelings for a white paint, but let me tell ya, I love this color as much as Kanye West loves himself AND that my friends is a WHOLE lot of love.
Before painting, I removed the little white knobs that the drawers came with.
Right now they're serving as decorative fillers for the rotating tray sitting on top of the cabinet but I'm sure sometime in the future they'll find a new home.
To go along with the office theme, I added some vintage looking cabinet label holders that I ordered from D Lawless Hardware. They have a handful of styles to choose from. I went with the Antique Brass Cup Pull Labels. I absolutely love how they look on the drawers!
Sure the cabinet looks pretty but let's talk about the best part; storage!
It's a great piece for storing glue, stamps, notepads and other miscellaneous craft crap I use to have just laying around cluttering up this space.
Don't you think it compliments our little DIY farmhouse accent table so well? The tutorial for that project will be coming soon! Super, duper glad I stumbled across this cabinet.
I know it will serve me well for years to come!
