FALL HOME TOUR WITH DEEP REDS AND BLUES

Our weather this week has been pure fall perfection! We've been making the most of it knowing that another Chicago winter will be here before we know it. I've also been taking my time adding small, simple touches of fall here and there around our house. Last week I shared a glimpse of how I started to welcome in the new season in our living room. Similar to that space, you'll see that I continued to stick with the deep red color theme through out the rest of our home

After many, many seasons of decorating the old vintage window in our entry way I decided to spice things up a bit and try something new for our fall entry table. This beast-of-a-tobacco-basket has been looking for a new home in our house and I thought this wall would be the perfect spot for it. I'm still on the fence on whether it'll stay here for awhile, but it's refreshing to switch it up sometimes.

Side note: Can you believe I found that lamp for only $2 at Goodwill? I'm all about the clear, glass-based lamps lately! (And now I have that Meghan Trainor song in my head....I'm all about that bass, 'bout that bass, no treble🤣)

Another thing, I can't get enough of is red mums. I usually steer clear of them because of their short life span. Or maybe they just don't last long for me because I'm the worst at keeping plants alive! Seriously, how it is children are easier to take care of than plants?

I thought they complimented the red pots that I scored on clearance at our local Menards. These pots are so gorgeous in person, and they have a nice hint of blue towards the top of them. I actually used a few of them on our front porch too.

This year in the dining room I went super simple and I love it. It's easy to convince yourself that you need some kind of elaborate tablescape or centerpiece, but as you can see , even just a few branches can make a big visual impact.

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, then you know I shared that I recently painted the interior of our front door. I'm really, really, really pleased with how it turned out. I'll be sharing more about it in a future post, so stay tuned.

It makes me smile every time I see our little pumpkins peeking through the top of the door. It's the small things, people.

For my fall hutch display, I traded a few pieces of ironstone for these wood-toned pumpkins. Decorating with pine cones is always a must for me this time of year, it's a cheap and simple way to add a touch of Autumn. And it's a decorative item that can carry you though Christmas and winter decorating too. So YAY for Team Pinecones!

As you can see, the red mums made their way to our kitchen eat-in area as well. I found that old blue bowl at an antique store this summer and am ga-ga over how beautifully it contrasts against the flowers. I have all the heart eyes for it!

Thrift store prints, baby boo pumpkins, pinecones, and shades of blue and deep, chocolate browns helped dress up our fall shelves.

You see those pretty, copper pumpkins? They were a Dollar Store find and I totally regret not buying more. I swear every new season, I always have one item that I have NON-buyer's remorse for, and these are them. By time I realized I wanted more, every Dollar Store 30+ miles from us was sold out of them (and trust me, yes, I checked! 🤣)

When standing in our kitchen, you get a view of our garage entry-way hallway. I always like to make a few seasonal changes here too. We primarily enter and exit through our garage, so I always feel like it's nice to have a touch of fall decor there to greet us or to bid farewell. It helps me see the prettiness among the mess of coats and book bags that are usually taking up real estate here.

me of you may notice that I rarely change out that little blue gingham pillow, and that's because I feel like it works for almost every season. In today's world, it's easy for Instagram and bloggers to make you think that you need to buy ALL new decor every season but YOU DON'T! If it works, and it makes you happy, keep it.

Speaking of happy, we replanted a few hydrangea bushes this summer and they bloomed beautifully BUT I am even more excited that for once, I finally successfully dried out a handful of them. I've attempted many times, so I feel like I deserve a gold star! Oh, and the thing that worked for me was storing them in an empty vase in our dark basement for a few days. The trick is to wait until the petals get that paper-like feeling and then you can bring them back into sunlight.

On the other side of the hall I hung a basket wreath I made about 7-8 years ago. I was happy to bring it out of retirement.

Thank you so much for stopping by for my fall home tour today! I hope you enjoyed your stay (sorry, about the screaming kids in the background 😜) I plan on being back next week with our fall porch, so I hope you'll return soon!
