BLUE VANITY POWDER ROOM MAKEOVER

Powder room vanity

I finally made over the ugliest room in our house, so today is the big reveal! At the start of this whole "shelter in place" ordeal, I had decided there was no better time than now to knock out a room on our to-do list. So say "hello" to our new powder room!

But let's back up for a sec, because first you have to see what this little bathroom looked like before.

Before pictures for powder room makeover

Can you believe I subjected my family and friends to this for SIX WHOLE YEARS??! Haha.

This is actually a picture of the room from the listing, but it has looked pretty much the same the whole time we have lived here (minus the wall art). Let's just say me and the previous owner have VERRRY different taste.

BEFORE and AFTER Powder Room

The first thing that had to go were those orange walls. I COULD NOT PAINT OVER THOSE WALLS FAST ENOUGH. This is a windowless bathroom, so in order to brighten things up I went with Benjamin Moore Classic Grey. It's such a nice change!

The vanity is actually the same cabinetry from the original bathroom. I have always been a fan of the base of our vanity, just not the sink and countertop. Initially, we were looking to switch out the whole thing but do you know how hard it is to find a well-rated bathroom cabinet for under $500?! After searching and searching, I finally convinced my hubby that we could just replace the sink and countertop.

I decided to go with Sherwin Williams Distance on the vanity. This was actually one of the colors I sampled and talked about for our kitchen island, so I already had it on hand. It went too purple in our kitchen but I love it in this small space!

With a new sink, also comes a new faucet. This one swivels making it much easier for my kids to use (my 2 year old likes to climb up via the toilet side of the vanity to wash her hands).

We switched out the mirror too and I was so excited to finally have a space for this arched mirror from Target. I've been eyeing it for months!

I was never a fan of the old vanity light fixture. I often referred to it as "that ugly UFO looking thing". You can see more of what I'm talking about in the real estate picture up above.

This warm brass fixture caught my eye right away and I'm obsessed with it. I love the look of mixed metals in bathrooms (if done correctly) and am pleased with how the brass compliments the brushed nickel throughout the rest of this space.

Let's move over to the art work. I picked these botanical prints off of Etsy. The collection actually includes three pictures but I wanted to keep things really simple in here so I only hung two frames. Now that I have them up I decided I need the third picture to fill the wall space more. I'll have to share another pic when I update that.

Small Powder Room Ideas

This powder room is really small so I hope you all appreciate the yoga moves I had to do to try to capture this space all in one shot! 🤣

Before and After Powder Room Makeover

All in all, I'm really happy with how this turned out! It was a fun challenge making over a room during isolation. I wasn't able to go to my local stores to shop around and check everything out in person like I normally would.  I didn't hem and haw over every decision. I literally picked the wall color in 20 minutes while rushing to get to the store before our "shelter in place" went into effect. That's HUGE for someone indecisive like me!

The cherry on top was we transformed this powder room for less than it would of cost me to buy a whole new vanity sink! Yay for budget-friendly makeovers!
