Geez, I'm only about a month behind in the blog world and about 6 months behind in Hobby Lobby's world but it's finally here; my holiday home tour! I was beginning to wonder if my halls would ever be decked but alas I've hung the last wreath and am ready to welcome you all inside (just make sure to step around all the baby crap!) Today's tour is the first of three, so let's get started! (Update: see day 2 of our holiday tour here and day 3 here.)
PS. I'm linking up to Jennifer Rizzo's fabulous Holiday Housewalk party! If you like creeping around people's homes (legally of course!) then make sure to check out all of the participants!
In years past I've always stuck with traditional red when it came to decorating my house for the holidays (see last year's home tour), but this year I was feeling an urge to change things up a bit. So this Christmas I opted for a blue, silver, and gold color scheme, with hints of green. I was really nervous that I wouldn't be able to pull it off or that it wouldn't look holiday-ish enough, but despite this unconventional color route, I really feel like the golds and silvers that I incorporated still convey Christmas! What do you all think?

Long time friends of Delightfully Noted will recognize that I always love to change things up in our front entry way. If Martha Stewart held a glue gun to my head and told me I could only decorate one space in my house EVER, hands down, no questions asked (well, besides why Martha Stewart was threatening me with a glue gun?), I would pick this little room (I can call a foyer a room, right?)
One of the hardest things about changing up your holiday color scheme is to not break the bank buying all new stuff! After years of collecting red Christmas decor, I admit it was a bit challenging but I managed to stay with in a reasonable budget by shopping local thrift stores (that's where I found the cute vintage sugar dish!) and using coupons that stacked on top of store sales. Oh! And you'll be amazed what you can find in your house when you shop your own decor!
Honestly, I was in a major creative rut when I went to decorate our entry way and it was actually one of the last spaces to come together. My creative juices really started to flow though once I changed out the greenery for ornaments on my old wreath and saw how lovely the gold popped against the winter whites and teal blue! The reindeer and advent calendar were purchases from years past. It's hard to tell, but the vintage sugar bowl serves as the perfect home for my collection of mini bottle brush trees. The crackled blue tree "vase" is actually the top of a large candle holder.
Let's head on back to our kitchen! The eat-in area is my new favorite space to decorate since adding the new white shelves and Windsor-style kitchen chairs.
You can almost always find me burning a holiday scented candle this time of year! I particularly love to support small candle businesses and am a huge fan of One Love candles. All of the scents I have ever purchased smell so divine!
I'm so happy with how our Christmas shelves turned out! I've mentioned a time or two that styling shelves is not my forte (along with tablescapes) but this time everything just seem to flow for me (thank you decor Gods!) The "Noel" letters I've had for a few years. The "O" was actually wrapped in red and white twine but I wanted to incorporate some wood tones and thought the little wooden star was the perfect replacement.
The "Let's Stay Home" sign which is pretty much my mantra ALWAYS but especially during the cold Chicago winters, is from Smallwood Home (they're constantly running great sales!)
The hammered candle holders and small gold bowls that are housing my white bottle brush trees were thrifted from our local Salvation Army. They're probably one of my most favorite recent finds!
The "Believe" sign was a recent purchase from T.J. Maxx. I certainly don't want underwear for Christmas, so you can bet we're believers in this household!
The small touches of gold and wood seems to help cozy up the space, don't you think?
And now onto our last stop of the day, our back entry way, the board and batten hallway!
Another favorite spot of mine to change up for the different seasons, mostly because it takes a whole two seconds to decorate and I'm all about fast and simple these days.
I simply plopped a tree in the vintage crock, switched out the greenery in my hanging basket, and hung a sign. Done and done!
I was obsessed with this metal hanging sign and stalked it all season at Micahels last year. I finally snagged it during their after-Christmas sale and was so excited to hang it up this year.
Hope you enjoyed today's tour of our holiday home! Next up, our holiday living and dining room.
