As summer comes to a close, and kids start heading back to class, I thought some schoolhouse-inspired style would be fitting for today.
I actually recall embracing this old-school design trend at a very young age. Growing up my aunt and uncle were close friends with a family, a very large family, like Duggar-size large; and they had recently moved into an old schoolhouse. I remember at the time being so intrigued by this! I'm sure my little mind began to daydream about all of the fun things one could do while residing at a school with out teachers around. Unfortunately, I never got to tour the house myself (that's not usually a normal request at the age of eight), however, I could only imagine what kind of neat details their home included.
Fast forward to today, and the vintage style still gets an A+ in my book!
Here are handful of ways to add some vintage school flair to your home.
Chalkboards
Just like a boomerang, this is a trend that has come and gone and come back again.
School Desk
I have a vintage desk stowed away in our basement that has been passed around from one generation to the next. For ages, I've been scratching my head on what to do with it but now I'm inspired by the end table/night stand ideas below!
Clocks
Vintage clocks, a trend that will always stand the test of time (ha! See what I did there?!)
Maps
Take your home decor in a new direction (man, I'm on a roll with these puns!) with large, beautiful maps.
Lighting
These are a sure way to add some retro flair to your home.
Flashcards
One of my favorites! I am a flashcard junkie. I swear I can never leave a flea market with out buying a handful of these. So many things to do with them!
Which one is your favorite? Do you have any fun, vintage school-inspired decor in your home?
These are fun items to seek out at flea markets and craft fairs.
Etsy and Ebay are also great resources for finding vintage school goodies.
