Well, today I'm wrapping up the Wicked Week Series. Phew. I may be all craft out for a few weeks! I hope you enjoyed my Halloween inspiration but today I have one of the easiest ways to decorate for any holiday; dress up some store bought candles. The possibilities are endless when it comes to decorating your wax goodies. Walk the holiday aisles in your local craft stores and you’ll find a ton of inspiration!
I discovered these adorable polka dotted candles at Hobby Lobby & thought they’d be perfect for Halloween. I decided to "dazzle" them up a bit with some glitter, ribbon, and pumpkin jewelry charms.
In order to create a glitter border on your candles you must mark off a portion of the candle with some painter’s or stencil tape. Then cover the bare area between the stencil tape with some crafter’s glue.
Now for the messy part! Sprinkle some colored glitter into an empty shoebox and then start rolling your candle around in the box. The glitter will start to stick to the gluey part of your candle. It’s okay to get glitter on the rest of your project, you can brush it off later with an old makeup brush or soft bristled paint brush. Gently remove the stencil tape immediately after you’ve “glitterfied” your candle. Let dry.
Once your glued glitter has dried cut some ribbon and tie onto the top of your candle. I added a pumpkin charm to my ribbon but you can get pretty creative and add all kinds of different things to dress the candle up a bit. I bet wine charms would look really cute on it {which was my original plan but I couldn't find any holiday inspired ones. Darn it!} Grouping your candles onto a cute plate or tray is an added bonus to your project. I found this spider themed one at Home Goods.
What kinds of easy things do you do to decorate your home for fall?
